We have discussed different types of steel world maps before. This item is about a world map that is probably the largest magnetic stainless steel map ever been made. This super size map was requested by an interior designer form the United States. And the map was also shipped to and installed in the US.
When requests for customised maps come in, there's always a significant amount of groundwork to cover before we can provide an accurate quote. Numerous factors require consideration before we can respond to our potential clients. Take, for instance, the substantial weight of larger maps; it's important not only for configuring a tailored installation kit but also for determining the shipping cost through our carrier. Besides, we must account for the dimensions of the steel plate, which must be ordered and prepared by our steel supplier. In essence, any variation in size and weight directly influences the pricing structure, consequently impacting the quotes we put together.
Among the maps we craft, this stainless steel world map stands out as the largest and heaviest piece we have ever produced. Spanning 4 meters in width (over 13 feet) and boasting a thickness of 5 mm (0.19 inches), this steel marvel weighs approximately 84 kg. That's about 185 pounds of steel. The massive size and weight is in need of really tuff packaging solutions. Prior to reaching out to our potential clients, we take the time to address all these variables. When receiving approval, we commence the production process, ensuring the creation of a truly exceptional map.
As previously mentioned, the oversized map we crafted for this American client has magnetic capabilities. Thanks to its magnetic properties, this map can support its full weight using special high-grade neodymium magnets embedded within the wall. These magnets retain their magnetic force indefinitely, making them the optimal choice for an easy plug-and-play installation.
Moreover, the magnetic features of this colossal map enable users to pin various types of magnets to it. This option can be particularly useful for pinpointing global business partners or highlighting production and sales facilities worldwide. Instead of traditional coloured pins, our client chose for the more sophisticated nickel-plated neodymium magnets. Next to that, these magnetic pins were custom-painted black for this order, adding an extra touch of refinement. In the close-up photo below, you can see the striking appearance of the nickel-plated magnets with their black finish from close. Of course, the colour options are limitless, allowing for further customisation according to the clients preference.
