We frequently receive requests for customised metal maps, often initiated by interior designers or companies tasked with enhancing specific spaces. Recently, we were approached by a team of designers from Barcelona, seeking our expertise for a prestigious project: crafting a steel map destined for the CEO's office of a corporate entity also based in Barcelona.
Prior to delving into the design process, thorough communication was key. Gathering all pertinent information about the space and understanding the client's vision was imperative. Given the unique dimensions of the designated wall, we meticulously scaled up the map of Europe with additional intricacies to ensure its visual impact matched that of our standard offerings. Ultimately, the dimensions extended to almost 2 meters in width.
Given the functionality requirements, the need for pinpointing locations, we opted for a stainless steel map renowned for its magnetic properties. With all specifications finalised, we presented the initial design to the designer for approval before proceeding to the client.
Upon receiving the green light, we started the fabrication process, beginning with treating the steel with a specialised protective oil. This precaution safeguarded the delicate ceramic sanded surface from any potential damage during the cutting and engraving stage. Each component was carefully inspected for quality assurance after.
Subsequently, we designed a tailored installation template, ensuring every aspect, including weight distribution, was meticulously accounted for. Choosing magnetic installation kits facilitated seamless setups for our clients, empowering them to effortlessly install the maps themselves. Finally, Attention was paid to packaging, with all components securely housed in robust carton casings to withstand transit. Once dispatched, we eagerly awaited the outcome, anticipating the unveiling through the photos shared by the designer post-installation.
